Wednesday evening: Guests travel
on a Wednesday evening flight ready to make an early start the next
day. On arrival at the hotel, you will be kitted out with boots,
skis and poles or board, salopettes or trousers, jacket and goggles.
Please bring your own thick socks, gloves, warm undergarments and
UV-protective sunglasses - we will give you a full list on booking.
Thursday: The fun starts in the morning
where your instructor will meet you at the hotel. We travel to the
slopes in our minibus, learn how to put the kit on, and start the
lesson. Lessons run for the whole day with a break for lunch in
a mountain or village restaurant.
We will return around 4.30pm each day in time for
tea, hot chocolate and cakes. Tea and some time to put your feet
up before dinner makes all the day's hard work seem worthwhile!
Canapés & a well earned 3 course dinner with plenty of
wine are served at around 8pm
Friday: Today sees more lessons plus
an introduction to navigation, the local area and reading a piste
map. We try to visit a few different ski areas during the weekend
to give you a good feel for the various options available. After
dinner this evening we generally have a speaker, usually a local
guide to talk about extreme skiing, mountain navigation, or emergencies
in the mountains.
Saturday: The same pattern of lessons
with some time in the afternoon to visit St. Gervais or Megève
- after all, finding your way around the shops and bars is a vital
part of the navigation we think! In the evening you are free to
relax and enjoy your last dinner and contemplate what has been learned
so far.
Sunday: The final day of lessons,
and by this time you would normally expect to be confidently negotiating
blue runs, getting on the ski lifts with panache (!) and knowing
which way the mountain-top bars are (a critical part!). Finishing
lessons around 3pm guests return to the hotel for a quick shower
and change, and then we take you back to the airport, in time for
your evening flight back to the UK.
